PNSN Earthquake Catalogs
A catalog consists of summary lines, usually one line per earthquake,
giving earthquake time, location, and magnitude.
Basic Information on Catalogs - Earthquake magnitudes, quality factors, UTC time, and Catalog updating frequency. Catalog Completeness varies geographically, and over time. Better instrumentation improves catalog completeness.
CATALOG SEARCHES: 1970 - Present - Set search parameters and get a list of earthquakes that meet your criteria.
PNSN CATALOGS OF INSTRUMENTALLY LOCATED QUAKES - 1970-present, updated frequently. There is one "summary" line for each earthquake, and one file of "summary" lines for each year.
PNSN CATALOGS OF EARLIER QUAKES - Information from "felt" reports, paleoseismicity, and Native traditons
PNSN CATALOG OF LARGER QUAKES - Magnitude 3.0 or greater, 1872 - present. For older dates, only the largest quakes are listed.
