New Pictures From Brazil, Sprite Balloon 2002!

Overview:  The Space Sciences Division of the Dept. of Earth and Space Sciences has several active experiments and programs underway which involve high altitude balloon flights in 2002, 2003 and beyond, as well as data analysis from hundreds of hours of stratospheric balloon flights in the recent past.  These studies ask questions about phenomena as diverse as Red Sprites and the Aurora Borealis.  We plan to have balloon launches in Brazil in November, 2002, and a student balloon flight (access to space) in Spring 2003.  The group is also involved with a variety of rocket experiments to study higher altitude electrodynamics than reachable with balloons.
