mission of the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at the University
of Washington is to further the understanding of the Earth and the
solar system. The department was created in 2001 through the merger
of the previous departments of geology and geophysics. Faculty in
the department represent a broad range of expertise across the earth
and space science fields.
