Borehole Optical Stratigraphy at the WAIS divide

BOSAW* is an NSF-funded project at the University of Washington. In November and December 2006, two researchers will travel to the West Antarctic Ice Sheet divide drill site to study patterns in snowfall.

We will use Borehole Optical Stratigraphy, a tool that lets us efficiently measure layers in the snow using simple instruments and lightweight coring hardware.
