UW Scientists Track Newly-discovered Lightning 'superbolts' | KOMO
University of Washington researchers have been studying a relatively newly discovered phenomenon where thunderstorms can occasionally put out a super-charged bolt that releases about 1,000 times more energy than a typical lightning strike. Robert Holzworth, a UW professor of Earth and space sciences, is quoted.
