Glacier Retreat in Alaska
ESS graduate student Tayrn Black, who defended her PHD dissertation last month, has published research documenting 38 years of change for glaciers in Alaska’s Kenai Fjords National Park. “These glaciers are a big draw for tourism in the park,” says Black. Her new study, in the Journal of Glaciology and co-authored with Deborah Kurtz at the U.S. National Park Service, provides important new information for park managers, and for the understanding of glacier change more broadly.
